1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide basic analytics information to site owners.

Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by services other than the website you are visiting are called third-party cookies. Expert Web Tools uses a minimal number of both types, detailed below.

2. Cookies We Use

Expert Web Tools uses cookies only for anonymized analytics. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, user profiling, or any form of personal data collection.

3. Google Analytics 4 Cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our tools. The data collected is strictly anonymized and aggregated. Specifically:

  • IP anonymization is enabled — your full IP address is never stored by Google
  • Google Signals is disabled — GA4 does not link your activity to any Google account
  • Ad personalization is disabled — data is never used for advertising targeting
  • GA4 loads lazily — the analytics script only loads after your first interaction with the page, not on initial page load
  • Do Not Track is respected — if your browser sends a DNT signal, GA4 is never loaded

Data collected by GA4 on this site includes: pages visited, tools clicked, scroll depth, and anonymous session duration. No tool inputs, file contents, or personally identifiable information is ever sent to Google Analytics.

For full details, see Google's Privacy Policy and GA4 Data Privacy documentation.

4. Cloudflare Cookies

This site is served through Cloudflare's CDN and security infrastructure. Cloudflare may set the __cf_bm cookie for bot management and DDoS protection purposes. This cookie:

  • Is set automatically by Cloudflare's bot management system
  • Does not contain any personally identifiable information
  • Expires after 30 minutes
  • Is strictly necessary for the secure delivery of the site

Cloudflare also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for performance monitoring. This service is cookieless and privacy-preserving by design — it does not set any cookies and does not track individual users. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

5. What We Do Not Use

Expert Web Tools does not use any of the following:

  • Advertising or retargeting cookies (no Facebook Pixel, no Google Ads, no programmatic ad networks)
  • Cross-site tracking cookies
  • Browser fingerprinting or device identification techniques
  • Session recording tools (no Hotjar, FullStory, or similar)
  • Affiliate tracking cookies
  • Social media tracking pixels
  • Third-party data broker integrations
No advertising network has ever had access to visitor data from this site. This will not change.

7. How to Opt Out

You have several options to opt out of analytics cookies:

  • Use the consent banner — click Decline when visiting the site for the first time
  • Change your stored preference — open your browser's developer tools, go to Application → Local Storage → expertwebtools.com, and set ewt_cookie_consent to denied
  • Browser settings — block all third-party cookies in your browser settings
  • Google Analytics opt-out — install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • Enable Do Not Track — our analytics script fully respects the DNT browser signal
  • Use private/incognito mode — cookies are not persisted between sessions

8. Do Not Track (DNT)

Expert Web Tools fully honours the Do Not Track browser setting. If your browser sends a DNT header with a value of 1, our analytics script detects this immediately on page load and exits without loading Google Analytics or setting any analytics cookies. No data is collected, no cookies are written.

You can enable DNT in most browsers under Settings → Privacy. This is the simplest and most reliable opt-out method.
